Alias: PLOT

Displays the Print dialog box so you can print the current drawing. You can print your drawing on any Windows-compatible printer or plotter.

DIALOG BOX OPTIONS

Page Setup Name Enter any changes to the name of the page setup.

Printer Name Select the printer and view its details.

Properties Click to specify options for the selected printer.

Paper Size Select a paper size supported by the selected printer.

Print Scale Select a print scale option:

  • Fit to Paper Select to fit the specified print area to the current paper size.
  • Scale Select a predefined scale from the list, or select Custom to specify your own print scale. When set 1=1, the drawing is not scaled. Scale is available only if Fit to Paper is not marked.
    If using a custom scale, type the ratio of drawing units to printed inches or printed millimeters. The list of available scales is set up using the Scale List command.

Print Offset Select options for print offsetting:

  • Center on Page Select to center the print area on the printed page.
  • X/Y Type x- and y-coordinates to specify the origin of the print area. X/Y are available only if Center on Page is not marked.

Print Area Select options for the area to print:

  • What to Print Click to select the area of the drawing that you want to print. Display prints the view on the screen. Extents prints the area that contains entities in the drawing. Limits prints to the limits defined for the layout or drawing. Window prints the portion of the drawing contained in the specified window, maintaining the aspect ratio of the windowed area to the drawing. View prints the selected saved view (if a view is defined).
  • Windowed Print Area Type the x- and y-coordinates of the two opposing corners of the rectangular area to print, or click Select Print Area to specify coordinates in the drawing window. (Available only if Window is selected for What to print.)

Print Style Table (pen assignments) Select a print style table to apply during printing, or select None. Print style tables can modify how colors, pen widths, linetypes, and lineweights look when they are printed. Select a print style table in the list and click [...] if necessary to view or modify its settings in the Print Style Table Editor dialog box. Note that a print style table and print transparency cannot be used at the same time.

Shaded Viewport Options Select options for shaded viewports:

  • Shade Select how to print shaded viewports. This option is available for model page setups. Note that to print hatches with transparency, choose Rendered.
  • Quality Select the resolution to use for the printed viewport. (Not currently implemented.)
  • DPI Enter the custom dots per inch to use for printing the viewport shading. Available only if Quality is set to Custom. (Not currently implemented.)

Model/Layout Tab Options Select options for the current layout:

  • Scale Lineweights Select to print lineweights in proportion to the specified Print Scale settings; if not selected, lineweights print at their assigned size.
  • Display Print Styles Select to show print styles when viewing the layout.
  • Print Paperspace Last Select to print paperspace entities after printing modelspace entities.
  • Hide Paperspace Entities Select to prevent paperspace entities from printing.
  • Print Transparency Select to print entities with their assigned transparency. A print style table and print transparency cannot be used at the same time. Note that turning on this option can slow printing. Also note that the PLOTTRANSPARENCYOVERRIDE system variable can override transparency print settings for all layout viewports at once.

Print Options Select additional options:

  • Print in Background Print in the background of other tasks being performed by the computer.
  • Print Entity Lineweights Print entities with their assigned lineweights.
  • Print with Print Styles Print entities with their assigned print styles that are defined in the currently selected print style table.
  • Print Stamp On Select to print with a header and footer. When marked, you can click [...] to modify the text of the print stamp in the Print Stamp Settings dialog box.
  • Save Changes to Layout Select to save the print settings for the model or layout.

Drawing Orientation Select Portrait (vertical) or Landscape (horizontal) orientation. Select Print Upside Down to print the drawing upside down on your printer.
