Background Properties dialog box

Assigns materials and settings to the background of your rendered image.

A background is an infinite planar surface behind the drawing, and it will reflect off of any reflective surfaces in your model. The background is not affected by lighting however, so no shadows or highlights will be seen on the background. By default, None is selected, which means no background is used (black background).

The background is specified by choosing a material, similar to using the Materials command, except the material is applied to the background and not the surfaces of the model. For more details about the options for choosing a material, see the following:

Library tab

Mapping tab

TIP  Your model will render faster if you use a constant color background or do not use a background at all. However, backgrounds do not take long to compute when compared to other rendering effects.
