Export to PDF dialog box

Use the Export to PDF dialog box to specify your requirements for the exported .pdf file you want to create. You can export to a two-dimensional or three-dimensional .pdf file.

PDF files allow you to distribute your drawing to others for viewing in Adobe® Acrobat® Reader®, which is free software that users can download. PDF files can also be viewed, reviewed, and edited in Adobe Acrobat.

This dialog box displays when you use the PDF Out command or the Export command and choose PDF as the desired export file type.

DIALOG BOX OPTIONS

Output Displays the name and location of the generated .pdf file.

Open in Viewer When Done Mark to open the .pdf file in the default viewer automatically after it is created.

Print Stamp On Mark to include a header and footer (which are defined in the Print Stamp Settings dialog box) in the .pdf file.

Embed Fonts Click to include fonts within the .pdf file, otherwise system fonts are used. If selected, TrueType fonts are embedded within the exported .pdf file, which can cause very large file sizes in some cases.

Optimized Click to reduce the size of the output .pdf file by removing unused parts of the fonts (for example, characters that are never used in the text). Note that this restricts editing abilities.

Color Policy Determines the color palette used when exporting the .pdf file. Select one of the following:

  • As Is — Exports the drawing with its native color palette (as is).
  • Monochrome — Exports the drawing to a monochrome .pdf file.
  • Grayscale — Exports the drawing to a grayscale .pdf file. Native colors are converted into grayscale.

Include Layer Information Click to export layers so you can work with layers in the .pdf file.

Include Turned-off Layers Click to include layers that are turned off in the .pdf file. This option is available only if you enable layer support.

Create 3D PDF File Click to create a three-dimensional .pdf file. If unmarked, a two-dimensional .pdf file is created. This option is available only if you enable layer support.

Include Hyperlinks Click to include links with hyperlinked text.

Advanced Options Click to open the Advanced PDF Options dialog box and set additional properties such as hatch resolution, image resolution, compression, and more.

Sheet Name Mark the name of each layout and/or the model to be exported, and then specify the following information for each:

  • Page Setup ◆ Select the page setup you want to assign to each layout or the model when exported. The page setup you select is assigned to all other selected sheets if they have the same type (for a model or layout).
  • Layer State ◆ Select the layer state you want to assign to each layout or the model when exported. The layer state you select is assigned to all other selected sheets.
  • Status ◆ Displays the status of the sheet. If No Errors, the layout or model is ready for exporting. If Layout Not Initialized, the sheet◆s layout is not assigned a valid printer. If the layout or model is assigned a page setup, choose File > Page Setup and specify a valid printer for the page setup. If no page setup is assigned, open the source drawing file, click the referenced Model or Layout tab, choose File > Print, specify a printer, then click Apply to Layout.

Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, and Producer Enter information about the drawing if you want to save the information as properties for the .pdf file.
