AutoComplete Options dialog box

Select the options that determine how command names are suggested when typing in the command bar.

You can turn AutoComplete on or off by selecting Enable AutoComplete on the Options - Display tab or by right-clicking the command bar and choosing AutoComplete.

DIALOG BOX OPTIONS

AutoComplete Delay (ms) Enter the number of milliseconds to wait between keystrokes before displaying the AutoComplete window. The higher the number, the longer the delay allowed between keystrokes (the AutoComplete window display less frequently). For example, if you are a fast typist and the AutoComplete window conflicts with your typing in the command bar, try setting the number of milliseconds to 1,000 or more.

Minimum Length of Text Enter the minimum number of letters to be typed in the command bar before the AutoComplete window displays.

Transparency (%) Enter the percentage of transparency, between 0 and 50, in which to display the AutoComplete window. The higher the number, the more transparent the window is. Enter zero for an opaque window.

Suggestions List Limit Enter the maximum number of items that can be displayed in the AutoComplete window.

Use Recent Commands Select to search for and automatically select a recently used command, when possible.

Show Suggestions in Command Line Select to pre-fill the command line with the full name as you scroll the list in the AutoComplete window. If turned off, the name does not pre-fill in the command line, however, you can still select the desired name in the AutoComplete window by clicking it or pressing CTRL + Enter.

Cycle Selection Select if you want to allow Arrow key scrolling from the end to the beginning (and vice versa) in the list.

Show Aliases Select to include aliases in the list of suggested names each time the AutoComplete window displays. This is the default setting, which you can override in the AutoComplete window.

Show External Commands Select to include external commands in the list of suggested names each time the AutoComplete window displays. This is the default setting, which you can override in the AutoComplete window.

Show System Variables Select to include system variables in the list of suggested names each time the AutoComplete window displays. This is the default setting, which you can override in the AutoComplete window.

Show LISP Functions Select to include LISP functions in the list of suggested names each time the AutoComplete window displays. This is the default setting, which you can override in the AutoComplete window. If selected, LISP functions display when you enter a parenthesis, "(", when first typing.

Mouse-Over Selection Select to allow selection by hovering the mouse, without clicking it, over the desired name.

Show Command Icons Select to display icons, if available, for each name listed in the AutoComplete window.

Use Command Line Colors Select to display the AutoComplete window using the same background and text colors that are selected for the command bar. For more details about setting command bar colors, on the Options - Display tab, click Color Scheme to open the Drawing Window Colors dialog box.
