Printer Configuration Editor dialog box

Use this dialog box to view and change default options for the printer you selected in the Print dialog box (the options that display vary according to the selection). Changed settings are saved automatically as defaults for the selected system printer or printer configuration file (.pc3 file). This dialog opens when you click Properties in the Print dialog box or when adding or modifying printer configuration files in the Printer Configuration Manager.

DIALOG BOX OPTIONS

INFORMATION TAB

Printer Configuration File Name Displays the configuration file name of the printer.

Description Enter information you want to display about the selected printer, if needed.

Driver Information Displays information about the driver, such as the driver type, version number, etc.

SETTINGS TAB

Media Displays the default paper size. In Media Source and Size, you can select a new default paper size for the printer.

Graphics:

  • Vector Graphics — Displays settings for printing vector graphics. In Color Depth, select whether to use color or monochrome output and then the color or grayscale bit depth.
  • Raster Graphics — Displays settings for printing raster graphics. When printer resources are limited, you can move the sliders to balance printing speed and image quality for raster images, OLE objects, and general trade-offs.
  • TrueType Text — Select whether to print text that is assigned withTrueType fonts as text (faster but may print with a different font) or graphics (slower but ensures text is printed as displayed).
  • Merge Control — To retain the colors of lines that overlap, choose Lines Overwrite. The visible color is of the line that was most recently added to the drawing. To merge colors together, choose Lines Merge.

Custom Properties Determines additional settings for printing, which vary according to the selected printer:

  • Standard printers and drivers — Click Custom Properties to open the standard dialog box for your printer.
  • DWF .pc3 files — Click Custom Properties to open the Custom Properties - DWF*.pc3 dialog box.
  • PDF .pc3 files — Click Custom Properties to open the Custom Properties - DWG to PDF .pc3 dialog box opens.
  • JPG and PNG .pc3 files — In Custom Properties, select the background color and mark whether to rotate raster scan lines by 90 degrees.

User-defined Paper Sizes:

  • Standard Paper Sizes (Printable Area) — Displays the standard paper sizes defined for the printer configuration. To modify a standard paper size, select a paper size in the list, then click Edit to open the Custom Paper Size wizard and modify the margins (non-printable) and save the settings in a new .pmp file.
  • Custom Paper Sizes — Displays the custom paper sizes defined for the printer configuration. Click Add to open the Custom Paper Size wizard and create a new paper size. Click Delete to delete the selected custom paper size. Click Edit to open the Custom Paper Size wizard and modify the settings for the selected custom paper size.
  • PMP File Name — Displays the name of a PMP (Plotter Model Parameter) format file, if attached. Creating an association between a .pmp and .pc3 file allows you to reuse calibration and custom paper size data stored in the .pmp file. Click Attach PMP to select a .pmp file and attach it to the .pc3 file. Click Save PMP to save your standard and custom paper size modifications to a new .pmp file. Click Detach PMP to remove the association between the .pmp file and .pc3 file.

Defaults Click to revert any changes made to the printer configuration during the current session.

Save As Click to save the media, graphics, custom properties, and paper size settings to a new .pc3 file.
