Tool Properties dialog box

Allows you to customize a tool that displays in the Tool Palettes pane. This dialog box displays when you right-click a tool on a tool palette and choose Properties. The options that display depend on whether you are customizing a command tool or block tool.

DIALOG BOX OPTIONS

Name Enter the name of the command or block. This name displays in the tool palette.

Description Type a one-sentence description of the tool.

Command Options These options display only for command tools (not block tools).

  • Command Name Enter the command carried out when the tool is selected. May contain a macro (one or more commands and their options), such as:
    ^C^C^CZOOM;E;MSNAPSHOT

Block Options These options display only for block tools (not command tools).

  • Name Enter the block name to be inserted when the tool is selected.
  • Source File Enter the path and .dwg file where the block is stored.
  • Scale Specify the scale factor for the block. The default value is 1.0; a value less than 1 results in a smaller block; a value larger than 1 results in a larger block. A negative value mirrors (reverses) the block. You can scale the block independently in the x, y, and z directions.
  • Rotate Specify the rotation of the block.
  • Prompt Rotation Choose Yes to prompt for the rotation angle when inserting the block. Choose No to insert the block automatically without a prompt; the block will be inserted using the value in Rotation.
  • Explode Choose Yes if you want the block exploded into its constituent parts. Choose No to insert the block without exploding it.

General Options These options display for command and block tools.

  • Color Select the color to apply when using the command or block. Choose Use Current to use the current color.
  • Layer Select the layer to apply when using the command or block. Choose Use Current to use the current layer.
  • Linetype Select the linetype to apply when using the command or block. Choose Use Current to use the current linetype.
  • Linetype Scale Select the linetype scale to apply when using the command or block. Choose Use Current to use the current linetype scale.
  • Lineweight Select the lineweight to apply when using the command or block. Choose Use Current to use the current lineweight.
  • Text Style Select the text style to apply when using the command or block. Choose Use Current to use the current text style.
  • Dimension Style Select the dimension style to apply when using the command or block. Choose Use Current to use the current dimension style.
