Subject: Importing a map file

You can import map files that are .shp, .sdf, and .sqlite shapefiles and also map data from PostgreSQL, MySQL, and WFS servers. Shapefiles are used for storing geomet­ric location and attribute information of geographic features.

To import a shapefile file

   1   Do one of the following to choose Map Import ():

   On the ribbon, choose Insert > Map Import (in Data).

   On the menu, choose Insert > Map Import.

   Type mapimport and then press Enter.

   2   Choose SDF, SQLITE, or SHP, depending on the shapefile you want to import.

   3   In the dialog box that displays, select the file, then click Open.

   4   Specify the name of the input layer with data that you want to import, then press Enter.

   5   Specify the name of the table to import data from, then press Enter.

   6   Choose Yes to import non-geometry data from the source file, or choose No to only import geometry.

   7   Specify the target layer in the drawing for imported data, then press Enter.

   8   Choose Yes to import three-dimensional geometry data in three dimensions, or choose No to convert it to two dimensions.

   9   Choose Yes to import polygons as closed polylines, or choose No to import as polygons.

To import data from a PostgreSQL, MySQL, and WFS server

   1   Do one of the following to choose Map Import ():

   On the ribbon, choose Insert > Map Import (in Data).

   On the menu, choose Insert > Map Import.

   Type mapimport and then press Enter.

   2   Choose POSTGRESQL, MYSQL, or WFS, depending on the type of server you want to connect to.

   3   Follow the prompts, which vary according to the server.
