Graphics Performance dialog box: GRAPHICSCONFIG

Alias: 3DCONFIG

This dialog box allows you to select the graphics device and specify other performance settings. Opens when you click Graphics Performance on the Options - Display tab or right-click the Switch Graphics Device icon and choose Settings in the status bar.

DIALOG BOX OPTIONS

Video Card Displays information about the video card installed on the computer.

Driver Version Displays information about the version of the driver installed on the computer.

Driver Date Displays the date of the driver installed on the computer.

Graphics Device Choose which graphics device to use:

  • Advanced (OpenGL ES) — Select for high end graphics cards.
  • Intermediate (OpenGL) — Select for mid-level graphics cards or virtual machines and servers that do not have a dedicated graphics GPU.
  • Basic (Software) — Select for entry-level graphics cards or virtual machines and servers that do not have a dedicated graphics GPU. In this mode a limited number of visual styles are available.

    • Switching between graphics devices can sometimes resolve performance issues when using specific graphics cards.

    Line Smoothing for 2D Visual Styles Mark to turn on line smoothing (anti-aliasing) for entities in 2D visual styles. Turning this setting on improves display quality, but slows performance. Available when Graphics Device is set to Advanced or Intermediate. (This setting corresponds to the LINESMOOTHING system variable.)

    Line Smoothing for 3D Visual Styles Mark to turn on line smoothing (anti-aliasing) for entities in 3D visual styles. Turning this setting on improves display quality, but slows performance. Available when Graphics Device is set to Advanced. (This setting corresponds to the 3DLINESMOOTHING system variable.)
