Print Style Table Editor dialog box

Use this dialog box to define print styles that determine what your drawing looks when it is printed. Rather than describe what an entity looks like on your screen, print style tables contain individual print styles that describe what an entity will look like when you print it.

FORM VIEW TAB OPTIONS

Print Styles Displays the print styles that are saved in the current print style table. Select a print style to modify it with the other options in the dialog box.

Description Enter a description for the selected print style.

Color Select a color for the selected print style. Use Entity Color prints entities using the color specified for the individual entity or layer (this is the default). Common colors provide easy selection, such as blue, red, and yellow. Other allows you to specify one of 255 custom colors. If you select a color that is not supported by your printer or plotter, a color that is the closest match will be used at print time. If you select a color other than Use Entity Color, it overrides the color assigned to the individual entity or layer. Note that True Color is not available in CADdirect, but is recognized for compatibility with AutoCAD.

Dither Turn on dithering to print colors using dots and patterns, combining to create custom colors. Turn off dithering to print colors using only the ink colors available in your printer or plotter. Some printers or plotters do not support dithering, in which case, this setting is ignored.

Grayscale Turn on grayscale to print colors in grayscale. Turn off grayscale to print colors normally. Some printers or plotters do not support converting colors to grayscale, in which case, this setting is ignored.

Pen # Type or scroll to the width of the pen for the selected print style. Use pen numbers when your output device is a plotter with physical pens used for plotting your drawing. Automatic uses a color index to determine the pen width automatically (this is the default). Setting the pen number to 0 (zero) is the same as Automatic. Specific pen numbers range from 1 to 32 and determine the width of the pen used for the print style. The way in which pen numbers are assigned for plotting depends partly on your plotting device and its settings.

Virtual Pen # Type or scroll to the width of the virtual pen for the selected print style. Use virtual pen numbers when your printer does not use physical pens, such as a laser or inkjet printer. Automatic uses a color index to determine the virtual pen width automatically (this is the default). Setting the virtual pen number to 0 (zero) is the same as Automatic. Specific pen numbers range from 1 to 255 and determine the width of the virtual pen used for the print style. The way in which virtual pen numbers are assigned for printing depends partly on your printing device and its settings.

Screening Type or scroll to the screening value (0 to 100) for the selected print style. Lower values print with less ink, producing faded colors. Higher numbers print with more ink, producing more true colors. Dither must be On for screening to work.

Linetype Choose a linetype for the selected print style. Use Entity Linetype prints entities using the linetype specified for the individual entity or layer (this is the default). The other linetypes in the list are the same linetypes that are available for entities and layers. If you select a linetype other than Use Entity Linetype, it overrides the linetype assigned to the individual entity or layer.

Adaptive Choose whether to adjust the linetype scale automatically to complete the linetype pattern when necessary.

Lineweight Choose a lineweight for the selected print style. Use Entity Lineweight prints entities using the lineweight specified for the individual entity or layer (this is the default). The other lineweights are the same lineweights that are available for entities and layers. If necessary, click Edit Lineweights to modify the list of lineweights that are available in the Edit Lineweights dialog box. If you select a lineweight other than Use Entity Lineweight, it overrides the lineweight assigned to the individual entity or layer.

Line End Style Choose a line end style for the selected print style.

Line Join Style Choose a line join style for the selected print style.

Fill Style Choose a fill style for the selected print style.
